Gouverneur Kemble Warren. “Reconnoissances in the Dacota Country by G. K. Warren, Lieut. Topl. Engrs. U.S.A. . . . 1855” (Philadelphia: P. S. Duval & Co. Lith., 1856). Published in G. K. Warren’s Explorations in the Dacota Country, in the Year 1855 (Sen. Ex. Doc. No. 76, 34th Cong., 1st sess., 1856). Lithographed map on two large sheets joined as one, black and white as issued. 36 x 54 1/4" at neat line. Sheet size: 37 1/4 x 61". “Profile of Route from Fort Pierre to Fort Kearney” appears vertically in right margin. Slight toning to old folds; several tiny corner-fold splits; close margin at binding edge. Overall excellent.

Rand, McNally & Co. “Railroad Commission Map of Montana” (Chicago: Rand, McNally & Co., 1908). Lithographed case map dissected and laid on linen. Folds into maroon cloth covers with title embossed in gilt on front cover. Railroad routes coded in 8 colors. 32 3/4 x 51 1/2" at neat line. Sheet size: 41 x 53 1/4". Across the lower portion of the map is a large county and town index keyed to the map. Mint.

John Pinkerton. “Spanish Dominions of North America. Northern Part” (Philadelphia: T. Dobson & Son, 1818). Double-page copperplate engraving with superb original full and outline hand color. 20 x 27 1/2" at neat line, with full margins. Sheet size: 21 3/4 x 28 3/4". Mild darkening along centerfold with a few verso repairs; several marginal chips chiefly to corners and lower margins; a tear to margin; one small flake in border. Overall, excellent condition with especially nice color.

Copperplate engraving with later outline color wash. 17 1/2 x 22 1/2" at neat line. Frame size: 29 x 34". Inset maps at right: “Vicinity of Boston,” “Vicinity of New York,” “Vicinity of Philadelphia.” Good condition (by sight). Attractive archival presentation in ornate gold-tone frame.

Alexander Keith Johnston. “United States and Texas” (Edinburgh: John Johnstone and W. & A. K. Johnston, c. 1844). Published in National Atlas of Historical, Commercial and Political Geography. Steel-plate engraving with original outline hand color. 19 x 23 1/2" at neat line. Distinctive piano key border. Framed size: 33 3/4 x 38". Inset in u. l.: “Sketch of the River Niagara” (5 1/2 x 3 3/4"). Faint damp stain in l. l. quadrant and minor scattered spotting in lower margin. Overall, excellent condition (by sight). Handsome archival presentation in ornate gold-tone frame.

John G. Wells. “Wells’ New Sectional Map of Minnesota from the latest Government Surveys” (New York: J. G. Wells, 1857). Lithographed pocket map with fine, bright original full and outline hand color. Attractive, wide vine border with Indian portrait medallions at each corner. 28 x 19 3/4" at border. Sheet size: 29 1/2 x 23". Accompanied by 12mo green cloth booklet with blind-embossed front and back covers, title in gilt: “Well’s New Sectional Map of Minnesota.” Advertisement for Wells publications on front pastedown. Faint stain in left margin where once attached to booklet. Several very minor splits at folds. 1/8" closed hole. Overall nearly mint; crisp, dark strike and exceptional color.
